Our Work at Young Mums Unite

At Young Mums Unite, we’re on a mission to empower young mothers across Tanzania with the support, skills, and resources they need to thrive. To date, we’ve reached over 120,000 young women in Shinyanga, Tabora, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, and Dodoma through four core activities:

  1. Peer Support Groups
In safe, stigma-free settings, trained facilitators—many of whom are young moms themselves—lead small groups where members share experiences, learn practical parenting tips, and build lasting friendships.
  2. SRHR & Life-Skills Workshops
Interactive sessions cover everything from family planning and antenatal care to emotional well-being and basic financial literacy, ensuring mothers have the knowledge to make informed choices.
  3. Health Referrals
By partnering with local clinics and counseling centers, we connect moms to antenatal/postnatal checkups, contraceptive services, and mental-health support—bridging the gap between learning and real-world care.
  4. Youth-Friendly Resources
Illustrated booklets, short videos, and SMS reminders reinforce workshop lessons and keep vital information at each mother’s fingertips, even between meetings.

Every group meeting and workshop is designed with young women’s lives in mind—whether they’re balancing school, work, or childcare. Our approach combines peer solidarity with professional expertise, creating a community where no mother has to navigate early motherhood alone.

Join us: find a local group, volunteer as a mentor, or support our expansion so we can reach even more young mothers. Together, we’re building a brighter future—one mother, one family, one community at a time.
